Trendsetter in sustainable road freight transport with the EcoDuo

Furgo-Trayler, the internationally active Spanish parcel specialist, has added 25 Schmitz Cargobull EcoDuo combinations, consisting of 50 S.BO EXPRESS dry freight trailers and 25 dollies, to its fleet.

Reduction of the carbon footprint of road freight transport with the efficiency and environmental benefits of the EcoDuo combination

The "EcoDuo" consists of two standard-length semi-trailers connected by a dolly and towed by a tractor unit. In Spain, this type of Euromodular vehicle with a total weight of 72 tonnes has been approved for public freight transport since the beginning of 2024 following a five-year test phase.

The aim is to use the efficiency and environmental benefits of the EcoDuo to reduce the carbon footprint of road freight transport and enable a sustainable and economically viable transport chain that relieves the burden on the existing infrastructure and takes into account current standards in the transport industry.

Furgo-Trayler, the internationally active Spanish parcel specialist, has added 25 Schmitz Cargobull EcoDuo combinations, consisting of 50 S.BO EXPRESS dry freight trailers and 25 dollies, to its fleet. This strategic investment enables Furgo-Trayler to realise considerable benefits, including fuel savings and reduced CO2 emissions. In addition, the EcoDuo vehicles optimise logistics processes and Furgo-Trayler offers its customers a first-class service.

For Joan Monzón, CEO of Furgo-Trayler, the reliability, safety and robustness of the Schmitz Cargobull trailers, which fit perfectly with Furgo-Trayler's growth and consolidation strategy in the transport sector, were decisive factors in the purchase decision. He believes, investment and cooperation are important for the transformation in the transport industry to succeed. For Furgo-Trayler, this investment is part of the internal EcoTrailer programme, with which the company aims to reduce its ecological footprint by 30 percent over the next five years.

The new S.BO EXPRESS dry freight trailers expand Furgo-Trayler's fleet, which comprises a total of 623 semi-trailers. 50 per cent of these carry the blue elephant, the trademark of Schmitz Cargobull and main supplier of the Catalan company. The S.BO EXPRESS dry freight semi-trailers, certified in accordance with DIN EN 12642 XL, are equipped with a double-decker system that enables a loading capacity of up to 66 Euro pallets. The vehicles are equipped with the TrailerConnect® telematics system and LED interior lighting as standard. The galvanised MODULOS chassis is easy to maintain, offers a high level of corrosion protection and has a 10-year guarantee against rusting through, which underlines the quality and durability of Schmitz Cargobull products.
