Strong, secure, flexible and speedy

The Schmitz Cargobull curtainsider semi-trailer S.CS MEGA DB with POWER CURTAIN PLUS provides stability and strength to the body of the adjustable semi-trailer for loading heights between 2,900 and 3,000 mm, and also simplifies the trailer’s handling in daily transport activities.

The POWER CURTAIN PLUS body with tyre certificate is specially designed for transporting dimensionally unstable goods.

Another highlight is the new ferry underride guard for multimodal transport on trains and ferries.

Strong, secure, flexible and speedy

The logistics sector demands short loading times to increase turnaround speed and, thus, efficiency. For precisely this purpose, Schmitz Cargobull offers the POWER CURTAIN body. The certified structural rigidity according to DIN EN 12642 Code XL without support laths is achieved thanks to aramid belts and steel wire integrated into the tarpaulin. The POWER CURTAIN has been further developed to the POWER CURTAIN PLUS for the transport of tyres and other goods that are not dimensionally stable to meet the special requirements regarding side wall stability and load securing. The POWER CURTAIN PLUS body is fully certified for any type of cargo with form-fitting loading, in particular goods that place heavy demands on the stability of the side walls. Supporting bars, which are integrated into the side tarpaulin, enable the side tarpaulin to be tightly tensioned against the outer frame or the sliding tarpaulin strut from inside the trailer. When the supporting bars are not tensioned, the tarpaulin can be slid open and closed as usual. The all-encompassing certification means that no insertable laths are needed in either side wall locked mode or conventional sliding tarpaulin body mode. This makes the lath-free body a practical, universal transport solution in the curtainsider semi-trailer sector. Customers benefit from quicker loading and unloading without time-consuming handling to secure the load. Both transport efficiency and occupational safety are increased, the transport process optimised and the driver can get back on the road more quickly. The three rows of load securing loops integrated into the curtain can be used to secure goods in partial loads rearwards. Together with belts or a load securing tarpaulin, these have a blocking force of up to 7,500 daN.

The new LED interior lighting guarantees safe loading and unloading, and a complete overview of the body interior, even in the dark.

Ferry underride guard

Certain trailer configurations that are used on trains and ferries in multimodal transport, in particular those with low tyres, are vulnerable to potentially serious damage to the rear of the trailer when transferring the trailers to the train or ferry, or when approaching ramps at awkward angles.

The Schmitz Cargobull ferry underride guard with sliding rollers particularly effectively solves the challenges that arise as the necessary technical modifications to the Underride Guard Directive ECE R58.03 come into force. The sliding rollers ensure that, in the event of contact, the trailer rolls off and the shock absorber in the underride guard arm absorbs the impact. This avoids direct contact with the chassis, which could lead to damage to the underride guard and attachment parts, such as the lamp holder. This prevents serious damage and the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) for the customer can be actively lowered.

S.CS MEGA DB

The S.CS MEGA DB curtainsider semi-trailer offers more loading volume and can be used flexibly in multimodal transport. Due to the possibility of transferring to rail transport, the trailer contributes to environmentally friendly transportation and relieves the strain on roads without compromising on high transport security. Additional advantages include cost savings through

lower toll charges, the possibility to optimise working times, and the economical use of the transport means. The adjustable body of the S.CS MEGA DB body enables the trailer to be combined with different coupling heights, whilst still complying with the legal, overall height restrictions.

The lifting roof stabilises the body and can be raised flexibly on the left, right or on both sides for loading and unloading by means of a hydro-pneumatic pump.

Pins on the central stanchions and corner stanchions round out the height adjustment in 2 x 50 mm steps. The interior height can thus be adjusted between 2,900 and 3,000 mm. An interior height of 3,000 mm is required for the automotive industry when transporting stacks of three pallet cages. In addition, this body system also fulfils the demanding standards of the beverage industry. Beverage crates require no additional load securing when transported as an interlocking load. This enables the S.CS MEGA to be driven with different tractor units (standard and lowliner), and thereby offers a high degree of flexibility.
