Labelling of tyres in relation to fuel efficiency and other parameters

Fuel efficiency is a crucial component for the EU's climate and energy policy until 2030. Fuel-efficient tyres would contribute to reducing emissions in road traffic. The new tyre labelling introduced by the EU on 01.05. 2021 should enable an informed purchasing decision.

Note:
Actual fuel savings and road safety depend to a large extent on one's own driving style. Fuel consumption can be significantly reduced by driving in an environmentally friendly manner. Tyre pressure must be checked regularly to improve fuel efficiency and wet grip. Stopping distances must always be observed.

Ice tyres are designed for road surfaces with a layer of ice or a solid snow cover and should only be used in very difficult weather conditions (e.g. low temperatures). The use of ice tyres in less difficult weather conditions (e.g. wet or warmer temperatures), especially with regard to wet grip, handling and wear, may result in suboptimal performance.
