September 2024 – The single-axle S.KO CITY refrigerated box body semi-trailer is especially suited to town centres and urban areas. It has space for 36 roller containers or 22 Euro pallets, regardless of whether it is being used to transport fresh or frozen goods. Its mechanical forced steering ensures maximum manoeuvrability in tight spaces with low levels of tyre wear. With its compact dimensions – including a length of 9,000 mm and low total internal height of 2,250 mm – the S.KOe CITY is incredibly flexible. Like all Schmitz Cargobull vehicles, the S.KO CITY is equipped with the TrailerConnect® telematics system as standard. The FERROPLAST® panels guarantee the best possible insulation with a k-value from 0.295 W/m²K in series production ex works.
Equipped with the Schmitz Cargobull S.CU d80 cooling unit with its proven, robust and emission-optimised diesel engine, it is ideal for inner-city food distribution. This transport of different products is characterised by frequent loading and unloading operations and driving in a busy urban environment. Within the Schmitz Cargobull cooling unit range, the S.CU d80 is designed for the volume market. Its proven and robust 4-cylinder diesel engine combined with up to 14,000 watts of cooling power and up to 10,500 watts of heating power, it can be used in every market, particularly in countries with low-grade diesel. Fuel consumption is reduced, thanks to the variable speed control of its diesel engine. Its microchannel condenser ensures greater reliability at high outside temperatures, short defrosting cycles, and high heating capacity for fast defrosting.
Another important decision-making characteristic is compliance with the strict sound emission regulations that apply in residential areas. Its standard Silence Kit makes it the quietest transport cooling unit on the market at the moment (94.9 dB(A)) and ensures that noise emissions when loading and unloading at night or early in the morning are kept incredibly low. The S.CU d80 is available as a MonoTemp version.
The vehicle on show at the trade fair is equipped with the S.CU d80 ePTO ready transport cooling unit, which can be powered by the tractor unit’s electric secondary drive (see also Press release 2024-509).

Various equipment packages can be customised to the respective transport and logistics requirements
The S.KO CITY with its proven FERROPLAST® body is primarily used in food logistics. Flexible equipment packages give transport firms the chance to adapt the semi-trailer to their transport and logistics needs. Its optimised airline floor is non-slip, easy to clean, and complies with hygiene standards. The body itself features vertical telescopic beams over its entire length, which can be quickly and simply fixed in the airline floor to secure loads. High scuff rails protect the interior, while LED interior lighting improves visibility and working conditions. Temperature conditions remain constant, thanks to the three-part insulated sliding curtains in the cargo area. A 2.5-tonne standard tail lift completes the list of fitted equipment, ensuring improved reliability and lifting efficiency.
The S.KO CITY is equipped with dynamic rear ramp protection, which ideally protects the vehicle from damage sustained while reversing the semi-trailer onto a ramp. At the same time, stainless steel roller bumpers compensate for the change of height of the semi-trailer when it is approached by a forklift.
To cope with the demanding requirements of urban distribution, the S.KO CITY is available with a range of optional equipment designed to increase safety and security. These features include a reversing camera and a working spotlight on the top of the rear frame, as well as two LED reversing lights and other safety lights on the rear. Flashing side marker lights can be installed on the left and right for better visibility. Snow and ice sheet profiles on the roof, with a V-shaped rain deflecting strip, protect the cargo and other road users, against damage while the acoustic warning system reduces the risk of accidents when reversing.
The design of the central electrical box has also been updated, making all electrical connections easily accessible. Now, all new electrical retrofittable options and functions and all electrical connections are found in one place with full documentation. This facilitates access, maintenance and servicing for all electrical components.
Schmitz Cargobull has been successively installing the TrailerConnect® telematics system in all semi-trailers as a standard feature ex works since 2018. Since early 2024, all semi-trailers have been equipped with tyre pressure monitoring sensors as standard and now comply with the UN ECE R 141 standard, which has been in force since July 2024. This standard requires all newly approved semi-trailers to be equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for registering tyre pressures. Schmitz Cargobull’s TPMS monitors the tyre pressure in real time and warns of sudden or gradual loss of pressure or of overpressure.
Auto-location: Automatic assignment of the correct tyre position
With the help of the auto-location function, Schmitz Cargobull tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)* sensors can be automatically detected and assigned to the relevant wheel position. As a result, the complicated and error-prone teach-in and assignment process is no longer needed. This saves time and money, both for customers and in the workshop. After a spontaneous tyre change or a trip to the workshop, auto-location offers maximum safety and transparency straight away. Via the TrailerConnect® portal, the status of the tyres and the entire semi-trailer can be easily and conveniently monitored in real time. In the event of abnormalities, alarm messages are issued by e-mail, SMS or app notifications (see also Press release 2024-154).
*The TrailerConnect® TPMS is also technically compatible with the majority of sensors available on the market (in the EU). Conformity with UN ECE R 141 can only be ensured for the TMPS with auto-location function when genuine Schmitz Cargobull sensors are used.
