Emissions-free solution for refrigerated transport
New electric Schmitz Cargobull S.CUe transport cooling unit
At the 2018 IAA Commercial Vehicles show, Schmitz Cargobull showcased a prototype for its emissions-free cooling unit for box semi-trailers, paving the way for efficient, environmentally friendly refrigerated transport. The electrically powered S.CUe (electric Semitrailer Cooling Unit) does not generate any emissions and is designed especially for use in distribution transport. When it comes to reducing harmful emissions, electrical mobility concepts are playing an increasingly important role. The electrically powered S.CUe with a built-in power electronics unit is designed to cool and heat freight without generating any emissions. And it can do this with a cooling capacity of up to 15,900 watts and a heating capacity of up to 9,100 watts without any limitations. The batteries are attached to the landing gear and the rear section of the box body, so that a pallet box can still be fitted as normal. In contrast to diesel-powered units, the S.CUe is only very slightly heavier. The modular design principle allows battery capacity to be scaled (up to 65 kWh). Depending on the application and requirements, the unit can run on electric power for up to ten hours. With this new model, Schmitz Cargobull is making an important contribution to CO2 reduction and offering customers a solution for optimised ecological transport and logistics concepts. In line with its core brand values of “reliable and innovative”, Schmitz Cargobull constantly works hard to create environmentally friendly transport concepts that are viable for the future.
New Schmitz Cargobull S.CU transport cooling unit
Another new feature is Schmitz Cargobull’s own cooling unit, the S.CU, which is equipped with the latest Common Rail diesel motor. The new cooling unit generation offers the same high cooling performance and precise temperature management, but reduces fuel consumption by up to 10%. The weight has also been reduced by 50 kg. The S.CU cooling unit complies with the Stage V emission standard, which came into force in January 2019. Through the optimum interface design of cooling unit and improved air circulation, operators can achieve even more consistent temperature distribution in the cargo area. Thanks to the new display design, the large digits make it easy to read and improve its user-friendliness. As an alternative to the display, all functions of the S.CS and telematics system can be controlled via a smartphone.
Robust and safe – the new Schmitz Cargobull multifunction floor
The newly designed multifunction floor in the S.KO COOL SMART boasts a non-slip surface and has a long service life. Integrated profile rails enable flexible load securing in the trailer interior, regardless of where the load has to be secured. In addition, should water penetrate into the body, the floor distributes the water evenly, which means that there is less risk of the floor icing up.
Dynamic ramp protection (DRP)
In the new 3.0 version, the conical roller bumpers cushion the impact with the ramp continuously and more gently. Almost 60 kg could be removed from the weight, which has a positive impact on the payload. The modular rear body enables individual parts to be retrofitted where necessary. This reduces both downtime and costs in the event of repairs.
