New: TrailerConnect® CTU in the S.CS SMART curtainsider semi-trailer
S.CS Universal curtainsider semi-trailer - robust, flexible with universal uses

September 2020 - With ‘100% SMART’, Schmitz Cargobull is pursuing the strategy of making TrailerConnect® trailer telematics a standard feature throughout the entire product range. The telematics system and the various services are tailored to the specific requirements of the transport task and the trailer. The S.KO COOL SMART refrigerated semi-trailer celebrated its première at the IAA 2018 with factory-fitted telematics as standard equipment. Now, the S.CS SMART curtainsider semi-trailer follows.

The standard telematics equipment creates a strong foundation for optimum control over an interconnected, integrated logistics chain and helps to increase trailer usage and achieve greater efficiency. Furthermore, it also increases transparency and aids in reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO). The new TrailerConnect® Telematics CTU hardware is standard equipment in the S.CS curtainsider semi-trailer, and is also being presented for the first time.

The goods and, consequently, the trailer load are increasingly becoming a focal issue for both shippers and forwarders. Data relating to transport and freight monitoring is becoming increasingly relevant for everyone involved in the logistics chain.

The TrailerConnect® CTU is a newly developed control unit featuring the IP6K9K protection class against foreign bodies and water. It is equipped with a rechargeable battery as standard, as well as an LTE network connection. The control unit for the curtainsider semi-trailer can be effortlessly installed or even retrofitted. In addition to position data with global roaming – at no further cost for the customer – it also provides additional information such as EBS data or wireless tyre pressure monitoring. This provides everyone involved in the logistics chain with a very low-cost, brand-new technological option which represents a truly viable alternative, especially for curtainsiders, to optimise logistics processes, reduce fleet costs and prevent breakdowns, damage and wear and tear.

Optimising processes (thanks to telematics), minimising fuel consumption (thanks to tyre pressure and temperature monitoring) and saving resources (preventing breakdowns, damage and detecting wear) all help to protect the environment.

In the case of factory-fitted trailers, the product arrives at the customer already activated. When the system is retrofitted, the device activates itself independently so that the customer does not need to do anything.

New customers receive a registration link to register with the user-friendly TrailerConnect® portal. Here, they can configure individual settings and view all of the data from the telematics unit, set up alarms and manage their entire fleet. External telematics systems can also be integrated into the TrailerConnect® portal via API interface.

For existing customers, the new trailer is effortlessly added to the existing trailer fleet in the TrailerConnect® Portal and displayed.
